Job DescriptionJob Description

This is a full-time role for an experienced and energetic Clinical Research Coordinator at the VA Pittsburgh Medical Center located in Pittsburgh, PA. The CRC will be responsible for coordinating and managing clinical research studies sponsored by industry, foundation, and/or Federal funding sources. This position will primarily support a team of Oncology investigators but will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance throughout the research process.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, screens and enrolls Veterans into VA approved protocols
  • Administers and documents informed consent process under the direction of the PI.
  • Collect, process and ship subject blood samples, cultures, tissues, and other specimens for laboratory analysis as described in study protocol.
  • Works collaboratively with Clinical Trials team to provide cross coverage as assigned by manager.
  • Coordinates research drug procurement and accountability records.
  • Coordinates, participates in and supports all site auditing and monitoring visits
  • Actively participates in site selection and initiation visits.
  • Provides in-service education to the appropriate hospital personnel in the departments involved with the investigational study.
  • Collects, maintains, and stores all relevant clinical data, case report forms, and binders in accordance with the study sponsor and all regulatory bodies
  • Plans, coordinates, and manages all activities pertinent to the specific clinical trials, ensuring patient safety, good clinical practices, and compliance with the protocol and regulatory agencies

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years in a relevant patient-facing clinical research role, preferably in Oncology
  • RN License OR extensive oncology experience
  • Phlebotomy Trained
  • Proficient in Window based products (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Comfortable using various technologies: handhelds, tablets, wearables etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Certification in Clinical Research from accredited program preferred.
