The Assistant Department Manager performs duties associated with most aspects of the store’s daily sales operations. The firearms aspect of the business is very important and very specialized. Therefore, the Assistant to the Department Manager must be just as familiar with the BATF & CA DOJ compliant firearm sales and transfers, receiving and recording firearms as the Gun Department Manager. Other skills that prove to be important are: proficient use of the internet, point of sale & gun log software (specifically the use of the electronic bound book, DOJ, manufacturer’s, and distributor’s web sites), customer relations/troubleshooting, weekly and annual inventory control (i.e. shipping and receiving), running administrative reports specific to the assigned departments and daily filing of such documents.
