Logistics/Transportation Coordinator

Overview:

Baton Rouge, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a dynamic Transportation Coordinator for our client.  This position will coordinate and schedule multiple carriers on chemical shipments at multiple facilities across North America.  The chosen candidate will interface with various levels of management as well as multiple departments.  Strong analytical skills will be valuable as this position is also responsible for a variety of reporting and problem resolution functions.

 

Essential Duties:

·       Locating carrier capacity for open shipments

·       Tendering shipment notifications to 3rd party carriers

·       Working within a customized Transportation Management System

·       Providing resolutions for daily exceptions

·       Tracking and reporting non-conformances

·       Supporting company and client management

·       Various data analysis/reporting

Requirements/Skills:

·       Minimum of 2 years of college or equivalent work history

·       Steady work history with a concentration in logistics or customer service

·       Strong analytical skills

·       Strong verbal and written communication

·       Strong Microsoft Excel skills

·       Experience with chemical or hazardous material a plus

Physical Requirements:

·       Extended periods of sitting:  Much of the work may involve sitting at a desk or workstation while using a computer or phone to coordinate shipments, interact with carriers, and perform data analysis.

·       Ability to use computer equipment:  This includes proficiency in using a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals necessary for working with various software applications, such as Transportation Management Systems and Microsoft Excel.

·       Manual dexterity:  Some tasks may require the ability to handle paperwork, manipulate small objects, or operate office equipment effectively.

·       Visual acuity:  The role may involve reading and analyzing documents, reports, and data on a computer screen or in hard copy format.

·       Effective communication:  While not strictly a physical requirement, clear verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with carriers, colleagues, and management, whether in person, over the phone, or via electronic communication.

·       Occasional standing and walking:  While much of the work is sedentary, there may be occasions when the coordinator needs to move around the office or facility, such as attending meetings or collaborating with colleagues in different departments.

·       Ability to lift/carry light objects: While not a primary duty, there may be instances where the coordinator needs to handle light objects, such as moving files or office supplies.

·       General physical health: The ability to maintain focus and perform effectively throughout the workday, which may include occasional overtime or working under pressure to meet deadlines.
