Introduction:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Psychiatry to join our mental health team. The provider will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive psychiatric care, collaborating closely with our psychiatrist/medical director, as well as other healthcare professionals. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals struggling with mental health disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including diagnostic interviews with comprehensive mental health history assessments.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with various psychiatric conditions, such as mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, trauma disorders, and other conditions.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including monitoring efficacy and side effects.
- Provide brief, targeted behavioral interventions via supportive psychotherapy and CBT techniques.
- Collaborate with a variety of healthcare professional to coordinate treatment for patients.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health issues, treatment options, medication adherence, and coping strategies.
- Conduct crisis intervention and management for patients experiencing acute psychiatric emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential electronic health records (EHR) documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.
Requirements:
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification and state licensure as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), or current, valid Physician Assistant licensure from the Texas Board of Physician Assistants.
- Proven experience in a psychiatric practice setting, preferably with diverse patient populations.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with expertise in pharmacotherapy and psychotherapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, cultural competence, and trauma-informed practices.
- Ability to manage complex cases, prioritize tasks, and work autonomously while adhering to clinical protocols and standards of care.
- Dedication to ongoing professional development and continuing education in psychiatry.
