Description

-Full-time 32 hours (4 days/week)

-PRN hours available


Purpose of your position

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide assistance to the Physical Therapist in providing therapy services to residents.


Delegation of Authority

As a Physical Therapist Assistant you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.


Job Functions

Major Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans as directed by the Physical Therapist
  • Conduct screening of residents to determine therapy needs
  • Provide education to residents and their families on therapeutic exercises and activities as well as on proper techniques to maintain therapy progress
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure that therapy services are coordinated and integrated into the overall care plan of the resident
  • Document all therapy services provided in accordance with facility policies and regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organized therapy area
  • Communicate with the Physical Therapist and other members of the healthcare team about resident progress and concerns


Requirements:

Educational Requirements

  • Must have Associates’ degree in Physical Therapist Assistant Program
  • Must hold current state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant


Specific Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable and legible manner.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult situations.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.



Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and push/pull a minimum of 50 lbs. force.
  • Must be able to stand & walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which include a physical examination.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people within the facility.
