About Mary’s Mercy Center:
Mary’s Mercy Center (MMC) operates two transitional housing programs: Mary’s Village and Mary’s Haven. Mary’s Haven is a 12 to 24-month transitional living program for pregnant mothers, and/or mothers with young children, ages twelve and under. Mary’s Haven is a therapeutic community that promotes recovery and the development of interpersonal, educational, professional skills, in addition to parenting and programming for healthy child development.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Housing Programs, the Supervising Resident Assistant is responsible for the development of curriculum, management of staff, and implementation of supportive services for mothers and children at Mary’s Haven.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain open communication and transparency with the Director of Housing Programs.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Housing Programs to ensure consistency in the delivery of services.
- Supervise program and operational functions at Mary’s Haven, including facilities, residents, staff, maintenance, and equipment.
- Generate correspondence, memos, and reports as directed.
- Coordinate meetings, schedules, tours, and appointments.
- Develop and maintain files pertaining to safety, maintenance, equipment, and facilities.
- Discusses problem areas or concerns with Director of Housing regarding staff performance, quality of work, attendance, case management and other related matters.
- Supervise staff and volunteers at Mary’s Haven.
- Develop and maintain staff schedules to assure adequate coverage for service delivery within budget.
- Assist Resident Assistants with individualized treatment plans and provision of services or interventions per specific client treatment plan.
- Review screening list of those seeking services and ensure waitlist is up to date with accurate information.
- Coordinate and maintain effective communication with local community partners and service providers.
- Schedule, attend and participate in case conference regarding progress of residents, new admissions, referrals, and discharges.
- Provide referrals to residents for community-based services which aid in their stability.
- Cross-train with staff to provide the necessary support and knowledge required in their absence.
- As needed attend meetings, appointments and other engagements that pertain to resident treatment plan goals and objectives.
- Review and maintain records regarding reports made for welfare or safety reasons as per policy.
- Ensure all invoices and receipts related expenditures are processed in a timely manner and maintain an accurate record of documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality and social service code of ethics.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and in teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to email, fax, operate copy/print/scan machine as well as general office equipment.
- Ability to work harmoniously and professionally with supervisors, coworkers, residents, and the public.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of ethics and integrity as per Social Service Code of ethics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in behavioral sciences or a related field, or five- years of experience working with similar populations. Applicable experience in lieu of formal education will be considered.
- Must have two years of experience supervising employees.
- Experience with HMIS software or other case management software.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance pursuant to state law.
- Working knowledge of the foster care system and resources to support family reunification.
- Experience working with families exposed to various forms of trauma, domestic violence, substance abuse, and recovery.
- Working knowledge of mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis treatment philosophies and modalities.
- Must be able to complete California Mandated Reporter training if selected.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related social science field from an accredited college or university.
- Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counseling.
- CPR and First Aid certified.
- Strong knowledge of case management software and report generation.
