Supervising Registered Nurse Position

Job Description and Duties
The Department of State Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Registered Nurse to join our Clinical Administration Office team. This is a permanent, full-time appointment that requires strong leadership skills, exceptional clinical knowledge, and the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will assist the Assistant Clinical Administrator, Program Directors, Nursing Coordinator, Central Nursing Services, and Central Staffing Office with Quality Improvement Projects. They will be responsible for supervision, direction, and coordination of nursing staff, providing an extension of the ACA's authority as assigned.
Key responsibilities include directing and coordinating emergency nursing services to patients, employees, and visitors of Patton State Hospital, adjusting staffing when necessary to ensure adequate staffing coverage, planning and assisting in training of nursing staff, and serving as a central location resource for primary contact after hours.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional clinical knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders. They will also have knowledge of nursing policies and procedures, the Quality Improvement Program, and the ability to interpret and adhere to The Joint Commission Standards and Title 22 regulations.
Required qualifications include a Registered Nurse License, a minimum of two years of experience as an SRN or in a leadership role, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Desirable qualifications include previous experience as an SRN or in a leadership role, interpersonal skills, written and communication skills, organization skills, strong attendance, and good judgment.
Working Conditions
Patton State Hospital is a forensic psychiatric hospital that provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
Special Requirements
- The position requires a Drug Screening to be passed prior to being hired.

- The position requires Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
- The position requires a Registered Nurse License.
