For more than 98 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso have helped young people build great futures as productive and responsible citizens. Today, our nine Clubs serve nearly two thousand children annually through Club membership and community outreach. We work with students through activities that help them succeed in school and become leaders. Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their goals and we exist to make that dream a reality.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Manages overall daily operations of the designated unit with primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision, grant reporting, training of staff, facility management, community relations and membership administration.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish unit programs, activities, and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment, and supplies are well maintained.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate unit, overall programs, services, and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and members needs and interests.
  • Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance, and participation.
  • Manage unit financial resources assisting in the development of annual budgets for programs materials and special events.
  • Control Club expenditures against budget.
  • Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups.
  • Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for Club staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee all Youth Development Specialist, Mentors and Volunteers assigned to the Club.
  • Conduct staff meetings with Youth Development Specialist, Mentors and Volunteers.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, and organizations.
  • Promote enrollment within nearby neighborhoods through monthly recruitment efforts.
  • Ensure the completion of applications and surveys as well as the collection of grant-related data,
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Field Operations and Chief Executive Officer.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answers phones and welcomes visitors.
  • Attends relevant BGCA training events and other staff development sessions.
  • Builds relationships with families and nearby schools.
  • Collects data and relevant to grants and provide updates during biweekly Unit Director meetings.
  • Deals effectively with Club Members including discipline problems.
  • Develops and implements fun, quality, safe programming and activities which will attract participation by Club Members of all genders, ages and backgrounds.
  • Drives youth in BGCEP vehicles when required or drive BGCEP vehicles to pick up donations for the Clubs.
  • Oversees the implementation of Boys & Girls Clubs of America strategies, curriculum and programs on a daily basis.
  • Instills a sense of sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play in Club Members as well as amongst staff during programs and activities.
  • Maintains daily contact with Club Members and provides guidance, mentoring and role modeling to all Club Members.
  • Maintains a clean work area and contributes to the overall organizations and cleanliness of the Club.
  • Manages volunteers.
  • Organizes special events for the Club as well as supports BGCEP events as needed.
  • Participates in special training for all employees as well as within required staff development sessions.
  • Review staff scheduling and uploads daily attendance of members.
  • Coordinates the serving of meals to members.
  • Supervises members on field trips, as needed.
  • Supports data tracking related to daily activities and meeting grant requirements, when applicable.
  • May be assigned special projects periodically by the Director of Field Operations and Chief Executive Officer.
  • Develop and maintain public relation to increase visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
  • Exercises authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
  • Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and other to assist in resolving problems to publicize the Club.

SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • A minimum of two years of work experience with children and youth
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • English/Spanish capabilities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and writing.
  • Experience in planning and supervising activities based on development needs of young people or equivalent experience.
  • CPR/ AED/ First-Aid Certification (in-house training available)

Hand-eye coordinate on is necessary to perform certain duties. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office settings to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.
