Key Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Processing:

    • Operate the cash register and other point-of-sale (POS) systems to process sales and returns.
    • Accurately scan and price items, ensuring correct pricing and handling of promotions.
    • Accept payments in cash, credit/debit cards, vouchers, or other methods.
    • Provide customers with receipts, change, and any necessary information regarding their transactions.

  • Customer Service:

    • Greet customers warmly and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
    • Assist customers in locating products and provide information about promotions and special offers.
    • Address and resolve customer complaints in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Cash Handling:

    • Count the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
    • Handle cash responsibly, including giving correct change and handling refunds or voids as per company policies.
    • Prepare daily reports on sales and reconcile any discrepancies.

  • Store Maintenance:

    • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
    • Restock items near the register, such as bags, gift cards, and promotional materials.
    • Keep track of inventory levels at the checkout area and report shortages to management.

  • Security & Compliance:

    • Follow all company policies and procedures regarding cash handling, customer service, and security.
    • Be vigilant in preventing theft and report any suspicious activity to management.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a cashier or customer service role is preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Basic math skills and the ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
    • Proficiency in operating POS systems and other related technology.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
