This is a full time position, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and some alternating evening hours that offers competitive salary and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Assess medical and Medical educational needs of patient.
  • Participates as an active and integral member of the patient care team.
  • Implementation of provider orders and requests interpretation when needed.
  • Assist in the examination of patients.
  • Completes prescription call-in, consultation and referral appointments as ordered/authorized by provider.
  • Performs laboratory and diagnostic treatment procedures utilizing necessary and available medical equipment instructed by provider staff.
  • Prepare all patients to be seen by the provider. Perform routine assessment procedures (i.e. vital signs, weight/height) as needed.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures as ordered by provider. This includes EKG monitor, audiometer, respiratory function studies, bladder cauterization etc.
  • Administer medication/immunizations as ordered by provider including by mouth, intramuscular, subcutaneous and aerosol treatment.
  • Assist provider with therapeutic procedures as needed, such as gynecologic exams, pap smears, sigmoidoscopy and office surgical procedures.
  • Documents all nursing observations/procedures/services in electronic health record. Assure all laboratory results are returned in a timely fashion, seen by providers and are filed in the patients’ chart.
  • Assist with tracking patients to ensure all receive quality care and follow-up for all medical problems according to protocol. This includes childhood immunizations, hypertension, anemia, diabetes, abnormal pap smears, pregnant patients, etc.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, including use of the autoclave, and any other medical office equipment
  • Clean and maintains examination and treatment rooms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of one-year Medical assistant experience. Ambulatory health care setting preferred. Excellent computer skills, oral/written communication skills required.


Education: Certification or Registration as Medical Assistant required, Associates degree preferred. AAMA Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements: Provide ambulatory assistance to patients weighting in excess of 150 lbs.
