Reports to the Chief Operating Officer

Finance Director Job Summary

Responsible for the organizations’ accounting, finance, resident leases and employee payroll/ benefits functions. Actively supports the organization’s budgeting process and compliance with licensure requirements of the Arizona Department of Health Services. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

Finance Director Duties and Responsibilities

·         Directs and monitors the financial activity of the organization

·         Manages organization cash flow processes

·         In conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer, develops and implements organization-wide budget plans

·         Prepares the organization’s financial statements monthly, annually and as needed

·         Ensures the accurate and timely completion of the organization’s payroll processes

·         Manages the financial aspects of resident leases

·         Analyzes and interprets financial reporting/forecasting trends to support the development of presentations for the Board of Directors

·         Manages the organization’s accounting work and supports internal and external audits to ensure the accuracy of accounting information

·         Uses data analysis to strategically forecast financial trends

·      Works with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer and external investment advisors to develop financial decisions that increase profits and minimize losses for the organization

·         Assists the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer in the development of strategic financial planning advice for presentation to the Board of Directors

·         Establishes internal work processes for the finance department and monitors the effectiveness of these processes

·         Manages cash from outside grants and funding sources

·         Stays abreast of current market trends affecting nonprofits; advises the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer regarding implementation of related measures that ensure the fiscal integrity of the organization

·         Assesses the organization’s spending and makes recommendations to department leaders to achieve budgeted cost goals

·         Drives compliance with the organization’s financial policies and procedures

·         Participates in monthly leadership meetings; as requested by the Chief Operating Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer, participates in Board meetings and committees

·         Other duties as assigned

Finance Director Requirements and Qualifications

·         Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field is required

·         A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a finance position is preferred

·         Proficiency in QuickBooks online and other business software is required

·         Demonstrates knowledge of financial forecasting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis skills

·         Possesses strong interpersonal skills that enable the development and maintenance of  long-standing business relationships for the organization

·         Excellent communication skills, both orally and written; skilled in the art of negotiation

·         Ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner

·         Possesses integrity, solid moral judgment, strong leadership skills and the ability to make important decisions under pressure
