Shift:Monday and Tuesday: Start time is 6:30 AM (for payroll processing as a team)
Wednesday-Friday: Flexible start time
Job DescriptionPayroll Processing:
- Process and analyze time, earnings, and deductions/withholdings on a weekly basis to derive accurate net pay.
- Ensure compliance with union contracts and HR/unit policies.
Issue Resolution:
- Independently analyze and resolve complex payroll issues.
- Communicate with employees at various levels regarding pay questions, processes, and training.
Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with peers, unit partners, and other functional areas.
Clerical Accounting:
- Perform complex clerical accounting duties involving routine and non-routine calculations, analysis, reconciliations, verifications, and postings.
- Ensure accuracy and validity in accounting processes with limited work direction.
Accounting Transactions:
- Maintain and process accounting transactions to assist with accurate financial reporting.
Account Reconciliation:
- Reconcile complex accounts, identify discrepancies, and provide corrective actions.
Month-End Close:
- Assist with month-end close activities and prepare financial exhibits.
Communication:
- Communicate within the department and with external parties (employees, customers, suppliers) to exchange information, answer questions, and resolve issues.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare various financial reports.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with complex data analysis.
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to quickly learn multiple Payroll/IT software systems.
- Positive mindset towards change.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to handle confidential information with maturity.
- Knowledge of payroll and payroll tax.
- Experience in maintaining confidential information.
- Proficiency with SAP.
- Experience using IBM/Host applications, such as TSO (Time Sharing Option) and RMDS (Report Management and Distribution System).
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a business or accounting discipline, or equivalent experience.
