Summary

The Line Lead is responsible for coordinating employee activities and product handling of an assigned production line in a safe and effective manner through the application of safe working practices, SOPs, GMPs, and company standards and policies. Pay rate based on level of knowledge and experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the activities of assigned line workers to effectively fill finished good products according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and production specifications.

  • Responsible for work assignments, monitoring, training, recording line productivity, quality results, pallet completions, and related activities to support production requirements.

  • Ensure proper utilization of equipment, manpower, and materials to eliminate downtime, injuries, and waste. Assists in developing more efficient means to identify equipment limitations, staffing, and materials to better utilize available resources and maximize productivity.

  • Ensure compliant conditions for line start-up to include having the proper components on hand, approved product, documentation, standards, clean and sanitized equipment, etc.
  • Inspect line areas to ensure safety and cleanliness are in accordance with GMP. Responsible for safety issues that might affect employees, including taking action to minimize the risk of injury, as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with Production Manager/Supervisor on line performance, employee performance, quality issues, and other daily needs.

  • Assist other personnel to ensure that assigned line runs at maximum safety, efficiency, and quality. This includes, stepping in to perform any job duty on the line in support of line operations.

  • Make minor adjustments to production equipment.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Willingness to work overtime when asked.

  • Ability to maintain a positive and productive relationship with co-workers and others with whom the position may have contact.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of 1 - 3 years related experience and/or training, preferably in the areas of cosmetic, food, and/or pharmaceutical packaging or processing production.
  • Must have a proven ability to demonstrate leadership skills in a team environment.

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills to interact with line workers and other manufacturing personnel. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak in English. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

  • Must have solid mathematical skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, convert English/Metric units, and apply concepts to practical situations.

  • Must have the ability to regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel, stand for extended periods of time up to the duration of a shift, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell, occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes, airborne particles, and extreme periods of cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must be flexible to change shift and/or schedule due to changing business needs

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but will provide guidance and training to others on the Filling Department team.
