We provide shelter and comprehensive homeless recovery programs for men and women and children. We provide all services without regard to age, gender, race, or religion. People choose to work at Everett Gospel Mission I order to fulfill their personal calling and do work that matters to them.

We are looking for a skilled Assistant Manager at our Palisades Village shelter. This position will be comfortable around people in recovery and those currently experiencing substance use disorder. They will facilitate management tasks, assess client needs, and assist the program manager in developing comprehensive action plans which include achievable steps, while providing clients with spiritual support, to lead toward recovery from homelessness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facilities Management 75%

  • Proficiently perform facilities management tasks (as defined below) while fostering positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Perform unit turnover.
  • Call and support emergency services personnel, such as law enforcement, fire department, and paramedics, when necessary.
  • Monitor and address maintenance issues; escalate concerns to the supervisor as appropriate.
  • Recognize and when possible address, potentially unsafe systems, processes, or situations; proactively inform the manager or supervisor.
  • Handle frequent non-routine cleaning and special projects. 
  • Pack and store participant belongings appropriately.
  • Distribute necessary supplies to clients as needed.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.

Life Transformation Coach 25%

  • Work with clients to:
    • Implement individual homeless recovery plans and achieve specified goals.
    • Improve their independent living skills.
    • Resolve conflicts through de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Occasionally supports clients in developing homeless recovery goals (e.g. Housing search, health-related services, job search, obtaining of various forms of identification, including birth certificates and social security cards).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related field. A combination of lived expertise and education will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Comfortable working in a Christian work environment.
  • Proficient with computers and specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work alongside mission staff, program clients, donors and non-profit partners required.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Enjoys a fluid and changing environment.
  • Loves to learn.
  • Fosters open dialogue.
  • Emotionally mature and resilient and capable of handling pressure.
  • A strong sense of professional ethics and personal stewardship of EGM's resources.
  • Proven track record working with a diverse population highly desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a safe manner.
  • Occasionally lift 20 pounds.
  • Frequent combination throughout the day: sitting at desk and moving from building to building; being outdoors regularly throughout every shift
