Description: Holden Farms seeks a Quality Assurance Technician to work with both sow farm and grow-finish production and veterinary teams. This position will help ensure animal welfare and herd health, improve production, and promote pork safety, quality, and public health. The employee would collaborate with Holden Farms' existing veterinary and production teams. Holden Farms has farms in MN, IA, and WI, with the main office in Northfield, MN.

Essential Job Functions:

• Create and implement all necessary animal welfare training, guidelines, and procedures
• Communicate and promote Holden Farms core values and goals to employees
• Effectively collaborate with farm supervisors, farm managers, and other management team members to reach farm and company goals with an emphasis on animal welfare
• Lead all PQA/TQA training and other animal husbandry and welfare-related training
• Lead all biosecurity audits (trucking, physical plant, sows, NF)
• Provide biosecurity support and training to all divisions
• Provide animal welfare support and training to sow farm and grow/finish staff
• Help implement all animal welfare related S.O.P’s and train members of the nursery/finish/sow teams
• Lead all animal welfare-related audits (CSIA, PQA, etc.)
• Provide additional support to the research, production, and veterinary teams. This may include assistance with farm biosecurity, sample collection from pigs, servicing sites, and Secure Pork Supply implementation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:

• Ability to effectively collaborate with and lead the animal welfare program in all areas (sow farm, grow-finish, management)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Provide professional opinion and leadership regarding all aspects of swine husbandry and welfare
• Ability to work in all Microsoft Products to create spreadsheets, schedules, and documents
• Consistent positive and can-do attitude.

Education/Experience

• Animal science degree with an emphasis in animal welfare preferred
• TQA Certification preferred
