Primary Responsibilities
  • Tax Planning. Applying aspects of the tax code and business experience, assess and recommend adjustments to the client’s entity structure to ensure it maximizes the deferral and avoidance of taxes, limits liability and drives wealth creation through estate planning tax strategies
  • Client Relationships & Meetings. Meet with all clients to accurately understand the client’s business and his or her goals and objectives from both a business and personal perspective in order to provide sound tax, business and estate planning advice and accurately complete the tax returns
  • Tax Preparation. Engage in the preparation of the core client base of business and entity returns:
  • Small Business Pass-Through. A significant portion of the client base are LLC and LP Partnerships (1065) as well as S-Corporations (1120-s) returns for both operating companies as well as active and passive investment holding companies
  • Individual 1040s. In conjunction with the business returns, we prepare the business owner’s personal returns. We also prepare a number of HNW individual tax returns as well has non-HNW with multiple schedules within the 1040.
  • C-Corporations (1120). With the passage of TCJA 2017 as well as Qualified Small Business Stock start-up/early-stage businesses, some businesses have converted to C-Corporations
  • Estates and Trusts (1041). Lower mix of VA tax delivery
  • State Franchise Taxes
  • Other. Assist in payroll tax returns such as 940s and 941s.
  • Supervision and People Development. Responsible for staff, including training, leadership and mentorship and the review and approval of all staff-prepared tax returns. We are interested in the development of people and not solely the production tax returns
  • Firm & Business Development. Collaborate with Partners engaged in other business lines of consulting and a outsourced family office services. The office also provides a professional environment and access to other affiliated businesses to drive future growth, including legacy and estate planning, exit and succession planning, sell-side M&A representation, money management, capital raising and benefit planning.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & CPA license required
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and highly motivated individual
  • 10+ years of tax leadership, including client relationship management and tax preparation for small businesses and small business owners and ranging in complexity with new Partnership taxation laws (i.e., BBA CPAR, GILTI, etc.)
  • Strong technical taxation skills with a high attention to detail
  • Proficient in Wolters Kluwer CCH Access or comparable tax software as well as Microsoft Excel. MS Word and PowerPoint a bonus
  • Takes initiative to plan work and beat deadlines. Tax return due dates do not move. We must achieve deadlines period. Applicants will be proactive in planning the work and working the plan.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
