Position Summary:

The Senior Staff Accountant works under the supervision of the Senior Accounting Manager for the PSI accounting operations in our Itasca, IL facility. In this role you will be responsible for accounting functions consisting of supporting inventory reporting/control, freight expenses, material variance, purchasing, etc. This role will develop cost reports that support month-end financial statements, and the activities required to close the books each month and also support Ad-hoc financial reporting.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
  • Create and review controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
  • Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues. Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
  • Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
  • Work with the materials review board to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory
  • Prepare monthly journal entries related to inventory, manufacturing variance, PPV, COS reclassification, tariff and freight expenses
  • Analyze surplus inventory and collaborate with sales and operations to develop E&O reserve and adjustment
  • Perform monthly accounts reconciliation and support internal and external auditing
  • Prepare monthly inventory & gross margin reports required for audit compliance
  • Support the development of a monthly operation KPI package
  • Ad-hoc support on product costing, cost rollups, and standard cost update
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field of study required
  • At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Word Documentation, PDFs, Excel, and general computer skills
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and customer service oriented

Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
