Job DescriptionJob Description

A highly regarded title agency seeks an experienced, professional, and dependable Examiner who has an understanding of title unit operations. This position is responsible for the day-to-day examination of title files and must pay close attention to details. S/He must exhibit strong communication and teamwork skills in order to effectively and efficiently coordinate title plant operations with various departments and outside services. Our examiner must use logical thought processes while problem solving, take initiative to plan and prioritize work, and be adaptable to changing work requirements. This position requires an understanding of technology, a pleasant phone demeanor, and clear writing skills.  This job can be remote, but applicants MUST live in the State of Michigan to apply.

Specific Job Duties:

·       Perform title searches on residential real property, utilizing title plants, public records, judgment indexes, and other resources;
·       Review and examine title searches for accuracy – identify any gaps in the search, missing documentation, etc., and locate missing documentation;
·       Examine title searches and prepare title commitments on residential real estate, relying upon title standards and sound underwriting techniques;
·       Assist the production department in other areas as needed, including final title policy preparation and recording of deeds;
·       Provide leadership and training to entry-level members;
·       Meet production team standards for turn times and overall productivity;
·       Provide outstanding service to our clientele by promptly, professionally, and courteously addressing client needs.
·       Correspond with lenders, builders, agents, and attorneys.
·       Update job knowledge by routinely participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
·       Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

·       3+ years of title examination experience in the state of Michigan;
·       3+ years of title-searching experience;
·       Familiarity with standard title insurance concepts, practices, and procedures
·       Strong customer service skills
·       Proficiency in MS Office applications and title insurance software
·       Michigan title agent license
·       High school diploma or GED required (bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification preferred)
