Immediate opening for a maintenance supervisor with at least three years of experience. Qualified candidates MUST have experience in repairing and maintaining production equipment, electrical, and plant facilities. PLC & hydraulic maintenance experience is a plus. Located one minute off I-69, Vidon Plastics offers an excellent work environment with a complete benefit package including profit sharing.

SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains production equipment and plant facilities. Schedules outside contractors to assist in repair and maintenance when necessary. Conducts scheduled safety checks on equipment and facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Lead, supervise and develop maintenance personnel.

Schedule and prioritize maintenance projects with input from Engineering and Production.

Responsible for the metrics and results of the maintenance department and personnel.

Responsible for setting and maintaining spare parts inventory and requirements.

Leads, monitors and follow-up on facility projects.

Conducts scheduled preventative maintenance and safety checks of equipment and plant facilities.

Repairs production equipment, when through own observation or direction by supervision, it is determined that repair is required. Starts repaired equipment to test performance.

Determines sources and writes Purchase Requisitions for maintenance supplies and repair parts. Forwards Purchase Requisitions to Purchasing.

Performs electrical trouble shooting and repair on production machinery. If additional technical assistance is required, obtains help from outside sources in a timely fashion.

Maintains and/or schedules maintenance on company trucks and lift trucks. Writes Purchase Requisitions where necessary.

Participates in Plant Safety Program as a member of the Safety Committee (if there is more than one Maintenance Mechanic, participation is rotated).

Performs cleaning & disinfecting according to schedules and as directed by Supervision.

Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Certificate from vocational school or community college or three years applicable industrial experience. Ability to weld. Basic knowledge of electrical power distribution and electronic troubleshooting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to read electrical prints and mechanical prints. Ability to communicate effectively to all levels within the facility as well as vendors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables and to make recommendations for both short- and long-term solutions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be able to use hand and power tools in repair of equipment. Must have Fork Truck Operator’s License. Must have or obtain Chauffeur’s License.

Company DescriptionFounded in February 1987, Vidon Plastics began its life in a small garage with scant utilities. With limited used and refurbished extruding equipment but unlimited focus and determination, Vidon Plastics began manufacturing trim for hospital beds. Excellence in quality, delivery, and support led to great customer satisfaction, the acquisition of further extrusion jobs, and a strong customer base. In the fall of 1987, Vidon Plastics became an automotive supplier. With only two employees Vidon Plastics had sales of $300,000 before the end of its first year.

Growth came rapidly. In 1988 Vidon Plastics moved into a local industrial incubator, the Enterprise Center of Lapeer. A year later, Vidon Plastics had $3,000,000 in sales and 35 employees. The small Enterprise Center of Lapeer could no longer contain the burgeoning company, and Vidon Plastics moved into a larger facility. The company’s success earned itself the 1990 Michigan Business Incubator Association’s “Annual Incubator Graduate Award.” Still growing in 1994, the new facility rapidly became inadequate. Vidon Plastics purchased a lot in the Lapeer Research and Industrial Park and constructed a 40,000 square foot building, with a 10,000 square foot addition in 1999.

In March 2003 Vidon invested in a Wire EDM machine to bring all aspects of Vidon’s custom tool fabrication in house.
