Job DescriptionJob Description

Note: Applicants must be a current resident of Minnesota to qualify for the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Meet in person with each client and identify barriers that prevent them from finding their own housing.

Complete intake and follow up meeting with participants.

Address barriers and work on building client housing goals.

Developing housing plans and budget using person centered principles.

Locate housing that is in the client's location of choice.

Schedule tours of housing options and accompany client.

Assist in completing applications and negotiation with landlords.

Assist in procuring necessary funds and resources.

Helping to set up moving, utilities, household needs.

Document all activities related to client.

Routinely communicate with Case Managers or Care Coordinators.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Current resident of Minnesota

Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field.

Knowledge of the local housing market i.e knowing where to search for apartments.

Experience working with people with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Basic computer skills.

Must be proficient at typing.

Able to work with diverse groups.

Able to pass a Department of Human Services (DHS) Background Study.

Valid Driver's License with less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, including DUIs.

Maintain a reliable vehicle.

Maintain valid car insurance.

Bilingual applicants preferred.
