We are currently seeking a Mental Health Therapist in our Des Moines location. This position is in an outpatient clinical setting. Mental Health Therapist providing assessment and counseling services for Federal Bureau of Prisons client population. This position provides opportunity for coordination of client care with inmates residing in a residential reentry center or placed on home detention. This position requires communication with federal probation officers. Clinical interventions are CBT based and reinforce evidence-based concepts taught to clients during incarceration.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts clinical assessments and provides diagnosis, treatment and referrals when indicated
- Provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups as appropriate
- Actively participates in therapy unit planning and functioning
- Accurately and punctually completes needed clinical documentation
- Provides education and consultative services to the community as requested
- Masters degree in social or behavioral sciences or related field is required.
- Active Iowa License as a Mental Health Counselor (tLMHC or LMHC), Marriage and Family Therapist (tLMFT or LMFT) or Social Worker (LMSW or LISW) is required.
- Certification as a substance abuse counselor (CADC or IADC) is preferred.
Education/Experience
- Masters degree in social or behavioral sciences or related field is required.
- Active Iowa License as a Mental Health Counselor (tLMHC or LMHC), Marriage and Family Therapist (tLMFT or LMFT) or Social Worker (LMSW or LISW) is required.
- Certification as a substance abuse counselor (CADC or IADC) is preferred.
Schedule
- Type: Full-Time
- Hours: Flexible within business hours (Monday-Thursday, 8a-8p and Friday, 8a-5p). Prefer one evening per week to provide adequate availability for client scheduling.
