JOB SUMMARY:

The Commercial Roofing Estimator will support all departments to derive project estimates. Responsibilities will include reviewing blueprints, specifications and related documents, gathering subcontractor proposals, calculating project costs and building estimates. The Estimator will be involved in all preconstruction activities inclusive of project prospecting, attendance at pre-bid meetings and vendor/subcontractor selection. Additionally, the Estimator will work with Project Managers to ensure awarded project costs are managed against the estimated value.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

· Generate detailed cost estimates of commercial roofing projects.

· Visit work sites, inspect existing materials (if present) and gather data related to material and labor costs.

· Create cost comparisons with historical data of similar projects.

· Understand the project/program and its requirements.

· Determine key variables for cost and other estimates.

· Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times etc.

· Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting.

· Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors and vendors.

· Perform risk analysis.

· Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate people (project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.)

· Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)

· Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs etc.).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· 4 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in a field related to commercial roofing.

· Must be comfortable with heights, climbing ladders and accessing roofs.

· Thorough knowledge of contract relationships, subcontracting and vendor relations.

· Able to read and interpret blueprints.

· Ability to compile and prepare project submittals.

· Experience with Project Takeoff’s.

· Ability to manage multiple enquiries at the same time, ensuring company and client expectations are met.

· Strong computer proficiency – Microsoft Office Products, Adobe, etc.

PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED, EXPERIENCE:

· Knowledge of EDGE, Plan Hub, Bluebook and Procore.
