Title: Program Manager – Teen Services
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Status: Full-Time (Exempt)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Coordinates Relationship Smarts + SRAE Program, Youth-of-the Year, Keystone Club, College Bound, Washington DC (when applicable) and Sacramento Days of Advocacy and Teen Programming at the Hansberger Clubhouse, the Riverside Clubhouse, and the Hope through Housing Locations and Teen related Community Center Partnership. Primary objectives include Teen Program Planning, Goal Setting, Site and Teen Coordinator Training, Program Execution Evaluations, Enrichment and Teen ADA Growth across all sites.
- ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare Youth for Success
- Plan and oversee the administration of Relationship Smarts + SRAE Program
- Plan, lead, and manage Youth-of-Year activities. Plan and coordinate annual competition. Partner with Resource Development to plan YOY Banquet,
- Plan and coordinate Keystone Club activities including Annual Conference participation.
- Plan and coordinate Washington DC (when applicable) and Sacramento Days of Advocacy teen participation where applicable. This could include travel and lodging planning.
- Plan and evaluate Teen Programming at all no-school sites to include site lead and teen coordinator training, performance versus Youth Outcome Objectives, Teen Engagement, and ADA Growth
- Ensures Programs are consistent with organizational goals and mission.
- Ensure programs, services and activities promote youth for success, while maintaining safety of members and quality in programs at all times.
- Provide guidance and role model to members.
Program Development and Implementation
- Planning, organizing and implementing the Club Experience for teens which is developmentally appropriate and significantly different from that of younger members; it emphasizes more privileges, responsibility, greater input and ownership
- Planning, organizing, and implementing a fun, impactful program for teens
- Ensure the involvement of teens in the development and implementation of programs and activities that meet their specific needs and interests.
- Recommending the development of service area programs; and promoting and stimulating program participation.
- Recommend requisitions, as necessary; controlling expenditures within approved budget.
- Organize, develop, coordinate and implement Leadership programs, which may include but not limited to: Keystone Club, College Bound and Youth of the Year.
- Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity
- Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
- Ensure productive and effective performance of volunteers and staff supporting teen programming.
Marketing and Public Relations
- Maintain close daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advice, and counsel.
- Develop partnership with parents, community leaders and organizations. Represent the Club at necessary meetings and functions relating to teens
- Develop and implement a Teen Membership Outreach, Recruitment and Retention plan.
- Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising members in program area.
- Manage department and ensure a productive work environment, maintaining an inventory of all equipment and supplies in good order.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in driving the Club’s vehicle as needed
- Work with staff on special events.
- Responsible for the organization, coordination, & implementation of Teen program, budget and essential reports
- Make ethical decisions and adhere to Organization’s Code of Ethics
SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Education, Social Work, Child Development, Psychology, or a similar discipline).
- A minimum of three years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
- Ability to provide leadership for the betterment of the organization.
- Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
