Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are in need of DECK BUILDERS in the PORT ST. JOE area.A deck builder is a carpenter who specializes in building outdoor decks. As a deck builder, you communicate with customers to assess their needs and carefully follow blueprints or plans for the deck. Your responsibilities include procuring the lumber for your project, using tools to complete the build, and measuring and cutting materials to build a sturdy deck. You then create the deck’s framing and meticulously piece the rest together until you have a composite. Other duties include finishing and polishing the deck so that the finished product is attractive and safe to use.

Rough carpenters should have good physical condition and endurance, as the job can be physically demanding. They may need to lift heavy objects, bend down for long periods, and stand all day. They should also have strong attention to detail, good hand dexterity, and a good knowledge of different carpentry materials and wood properties. 


Rough carpenters' responsibilities may include:

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints
  • Studying diagrams
  • Ordering and cutting materials
  • Building scaffolding
  • Setting up shoots to pour concrete
  • Measuring distances
  • Sawing boards, plywood, or timber
  • Nailing materials together
  • Anchoring forms into place
