Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group is seeking a Mainframe Support Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the top performance and reliability of the mainframe environment. You'll wear many hats, from tackling complex system configurations and programming to collaborating with various teams to optimize operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform highly technical system configurations and programming tasks
  • Install and configure mainframe systems and related devices, ensuring seamless network and storage system connectivity
  • Work closely with other teams, users, and stakeholders to streamline maintenance activities
  • Serve as an internal consultant, providing application development staff with valuable insights into operating system components, file management routines, system performance analysis, and software enhancements
  • Develop utility software to automate repetitive systems and application tasks, boosting efficiency

Qualifications/Background Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a combination of equivalent education and experience in systems configuration, programming, and integration
  • Knowledge of systems programming concepts such as table and bit manipulation, messaging, queuing, database organization, and disk I/O
  • Experience in Libra 6590 mainframe hardware installation and configuration including OPS console, System Editor, OC Manager, EMC storage switch configuration
