The Laboratory Manager is tasked with mentoring and providing technical and supervisory direction to ensure that laboratory testing and services comply with standards established by IPM policy, CAP, CLIA, OSHA, the State of California and other regulatory agencies. This position ensures staff follow industry standards and safety regulations for handling and disposing of test samples. In addition, this position is responsible for purchasing lab supplies and preparing ordering lists as well as handling security documents and ensuring that all information and data collected in the lab is kept secure and according to HIPAA guidelines.

What you will do

  • Manages lab licenses, lab audits and proficiency testing
  • Develops and or chooses test procedures relevant to the practice
  • Ensures safety, security, quality and accuracy of results
  • Designs and execute validation processes
  • Creates/updates and/or approves and reviews laboratory policies, SOPs and forms
  • Analyzes requests for tests and equipment
  • Performs CLS bench work as needed.
  • Performs annual personnel evaluation and competencies
  • Performs administrative duties such as timecards approvals and management matters including purchasing of lab equipment and supplies

Qualifications

  • Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist License REQUIRED
  • Bachelors of Science degree required
  • Relevant experience in Medical Technology and Clinical lab management
  • Minimum 4 years manager experience in a high complexity Chemistry/Toxicology laboratory setting
