TITLE: Broadcast Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering

FLSA: Full Time-Exempt


Position Summary – This position is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment related to Television and Radio broadcast and some non-broadcast equipment for South Bend operations of Family Broadcasting Corporation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

  • Install, repair, operate, and maintain technical equipment for operation of television and radio stations.
  • Troubleshoot and make corrective repairs to equipment as needed.
  • Maintain transmitters.
  • Log and maintain equipment repair and inventory.
  • Log and maintain transmitter logs.
  • Log and maintain wire logs and schematics.
  • Train and assist operators in the use of equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • 2 years college, military, or tech school education.
  • 2 years working knowledge of Broadcast Station Operation.
  • 2 years Broadcast maintenance or Military electronics repair.
  • Basic networking concepts.
  • Zixi as a streaming platform
  • Comark TV transmitters
  • PC and IT proficiency
  • Broadcast routers
  • Video Multiviewers
  • Spectrum analyzers
  • Gates Air FM transmitters
  • Wide Orbit radio automation
  • CAD programs and databases to document all installations
  • Electronics training is a must. (at least - military electronics training, electronics trade school, or college electronics degree)
  • Knowledge of IP Broadcasting is desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Knowledge of new technologies; commitment to staying current with fast paced changes.
  • Excellent listening and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Well-organized and self-directed with the ability to work independently and as a team-player.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Excellent time management, customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet specific deadlines, multi-task and follow directions.
