Job DescriptionJob Description

The Non-Emergent Medical Transportation Coordinator acts as medical transport liaison to capitated members seeking for the most efficient and safest mode of transportation (i.e. van, ambulance, etc.) for their non-emergency health care needs. Reports directly to the Outpatient Lead Coordinator under the guidance of the manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Coordinates the transportation needs of members to and from ancillary providers, PCP, & specialist office

· Facilitates the arrangement/coordination with a medical transport broker

· Obtains all necessary member information regarding transportation including but not limited to: call scheduling, appointment times and appropriate equipment to complete a transport

· Review medical necessity transportation form

· Works directly with Physicians, Hospital Management Staff, Case Management Coordinators, Nurses, Social Workers, and Unit Clerks to support in member transportation needs

· Data entry of transportation request

· Works with the Utilization Management Medical Director

· Assist the Client Support Center with high volume of calls, as needed

· Regular attendance in UM meetings

· Provides excellent and effective customer service with clients and members

· Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Job Requirements

· High School graduate or GED equivalent

· Knowledge of medical terminology

· Fluency in both English and Spanish

· 1+ year(s) of customer services experience

· Proficiency Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word

· Knowledge of EZCAP a plus

 

Skill and Abilities

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to empathize with complex cases

· Strong customer service skills with good telephone rapport

· Ability to multi-task while remaining adaptable and flexible to fast-paced environment
