Job DescriptionJob Description

The Controller/Accountant reports to the CEO and is responsible for assisting in the monthly general ledger close, balance sheet and income statement variance analysis, cost center expense monthly analysis and maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger, including sub ledger to ledger reconciliations and account reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process Journal entries for month-end close, including subledger to ledger reconciliations.
  • Independently analyze account reconciliation for all assets, liability and capital accounts
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
  • Assist in documentation and monitoring of accounts and inventory control
  • Prepares cost center expense variance analysis and account reconciliations
  • Sales and Use Tax, multi-state
  • Assists in preparing supporting schedules for external auditors and responding to audit inquiries
  • Assists with funding instruction and funding methods and special projects as they arise
  • Assist in annual planning, cash flow and forecasting
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for several US bank accounts and credit cards
  • Monitoring accounts
  • Bank wire experience
  • Manage monthly external and internal reporting and analysis processes in support of operations, budgeting and business assessments

Education

Minimum of BS in Accounting (MS preferred)

Experience

  • 4-5 years of related experience, minimum
  • Basic knowledge of US GAAP with direct experience applying accounting procedures and policies
  • Basic knowledge of financial statements, period close activities, creating journal entries and preparing account reconciliations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet.
  • Strong Quick Books experience a must

  • Ability to develop, manipulate and maintain spreadsheets in MS Excel and Quick Books
