Logistics Coordinator

Position/Business Title: Logistics Coordinator Department: Freight

Location: Houston, TX, USA

Reporting To: Houston Branch Manager, Freight

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the direct management and handling of freight shipments for clients utilizing all modes of transport. This includes providing rate quotations, negotiating rates with carriers, booking transportation and completing necessary documentation. The Logistics Coordinator is expected to provide guidance and alternatives to clients to ensure shipments move quickly and efficiently from origin to destination. CargoWise is operating system and beneficial to know.

Primary Objectives & Responsibilities

· Arranging freight shipments utilizing various modes of transport, both import and export, to and from the US

· Documentation generation for domestic and international purposes not limited to work orders, proforma invoices, air waybills, ocean bills of lading etc.

· Daily tracking & tracing of shipments with carriers, verify receipt of shipments

· Updating clients daily on the status of their shipments

· Client / vendor interaction daily through email, phone and face-to-face when required

· Vendor rate negotiations

· Ensure vendor invoicing approval and auditing is completed accurately and in a timeframe consistent with company policy

· Respond to customer rate requests in a timely manner

· Filing and maintenance of files on a daily basis

· Problem solve cases of missing documentation / lost freight, etc. as required

· Advise management of any issues or problems with customers, carriers or vendors

· Provide operational support for co-workers when needed

· Ongoing professional improvement through participation in educational courses, seminars and webinars

· Other duties as assigned

Requirements

· Be familiar with all modes of transport ocean/air/domestic

· Be knowledgeable of the CargoWise operating system

· Strong verbal and written skills to communicate with co-workers, vendors and clients located throughout North America and worldwide

· Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, and conflict resolutions skills

· Diligent attention to detail a must

· Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills

· Able to work effectively under pressure

· Ability to work well with others

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills

· Ability to interpret and act upon complex instructions

· Excellent understanding and ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and related computer programs including virtual meetings

Requirements and Education

· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

· Better than average written and spoken communication skills.

· Better than average customer service skills.

· Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills.

· Knowledge of basic economic, budgeting, and accounting principles and practices.

· Ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the company’s management team capable of providing leadership and direction.

· Capable computer skills including: knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel and Power Point programs.

· Ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.

· Excellent organizational skills.

· Liaise and attend industry functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and development.

Requirements and Education Salary range $35,000 to $55,000 Location
