Sr Accountant

Kongsberg Protech Systems USA in Johnstown, PA is seeking to fill the position of Sr. Accountant. The Sr. Accountant will provide accounting and financial administrative support to our US entities in conjunction with Norway.

Essential job duties:

• Understand each entity's financial reporting requirements, as well as the basic business functions/activities of each.
• Use this understanding to properly record and analyze various financial transactions.
• Be a cooperative member of the finance team and work with others to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Assist with the daily financial management and monthly fiscal closing process which includes, but is not limited to; analyzing various accounts for accuracy and making journal entries to correct as necessary, reviewing and processing transactions (such as employee expense reports, accounts payable vouchers and bank transactions) for each entity as required, completing various schedules and reports on a timely basis to provide to management, and provide guidance to other member of the finance team to ensure accuracy and timely reporting
• Learn various software applications used by the company and demonstrate an above-average aptitude in using them; some specifics include Excel and PowerPoint; QuickBooks preferred.
• Ability to quickly and easily adapt to change/time deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with Kongsberg's financial policies, procedures and internal controls.

OTHER POSITION CONSIDERATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in accounting is required. 5-10 years of directly related experience and hands-on "debit/cred" journal entry experience is a must. Preference given to prior experience in manufacturing and/or US Government contracting. Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team is necessary. Corporate tax accounting experience is a plus.

Position will periodically require extra hours to complete tasks within the allotted time frames. Interested applicants should be open/available to overtime, as needed.
