Job DescriptionJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented accounting professional to manage the personal
bookkeeping and accounting for a private family, along with overseeing similar responsibilities for the
hospitality and entertainment business. This role requires an individual who is discrete, organized, and
capable of managing a diverse range of financial and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will also
handle payroll, some HR duties, and coordinate with external finance and accounting professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Personal Bookkeeping & Accounting:

  • Manage the day-to-day financial transactions and records for the family.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts.
  • Prepare and track budgets, expenses, and financial reports.
  • Handle payments of bills, invoices, and personal expenses.
  • Maintain and organize financial records for personal investments, assets, and liabilities.
  • Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.

Business Accounting & Bookkeeping:

  • Manage the full cycle of accounting for the hospitality and entertainment business, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts related to the business.
  • Oversee inventory management and cost accounting as needed.

Payroll & HR Duties:

  • Manage payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Handle employee benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks.
  • Maintain employee records, including timekeeping, leave tracking, and other HR documentation.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and termination processes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  • Liaison with External Professionals:
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and financial advisors.
  • Provide necessary documentation and reports to external parties as required.
  • Assist with tax preparation, filings, and other regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and HR practices.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Unflappable and composed under pressure.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work on-site in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
  • Flexible hours may be required to meet the needs of the family and business.
