A Day in the Life of an Optometric Technician

On any given day at our practice you can expect the following:

  • Arriving 15 minutes before start time to be ready to go and prepare for the upcoming day in a store huddle.

  • Working with and communicating with your teammates at your specified office, other locations, and employees that work remotely.

  • Welcoming new customers and patients to our office in a friendly manner and being there to answer their questions.

  • Preparing the patient for their appointment and ready to assist the Optometrist in facilitating patient care and being attentive to needs during the patient examination.

  • Caring for patients in an empathetic and educational way to answer their questions about eye care and eye wear needs.

  • Assist patients and customers in selecting eyewear frames with attention to detail and education of proper frame fit

  • Directing patient flow and aiding the doctor with examinations.

  • Careful documentation of results of testing and aiding on prepping and closing of exam notes

  • Contact lens management with tracking patients' orders, following up on patient trial contact lenses, education and support with contact lens related questions.

  • Scheduling appointments and managing the daily schedule for best office flow.

  • Process orders, handle payments, and manage inventory of eyewear products.

  • Educate patients on proper eye care routines, lens care, and maintenance.

  • Finishing daily duties assigned and managing your planner to follow up on your orders.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring overall satisfaction.

  • You are not flexible and you contribute to a negative team culture

  • You are not willing to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion with excellence.
