Job Title: Technical Business Analyst
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite 3x per week)
Type: Contract

 

Our client is seeking a Technical Business Analyst with robust experience in Agile processes and a consulting mindset to drive the successful execution of technical projects. This role is pivotal in translating business needs into technical requirements while embracing the fast-paced, imperfect realities of an evolving business landscape.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Agile Process Champion: Lead and facilitate Agile requirement gathering sessions, creating an environment where key stakeholders can clearly articulate needs. Efficiently produce and manage user stories, prioritizing speed and adaptability over perfection. You will be the critical link in ensuring the flow of stories remains uninterrupted by over-analysis.
  • User Story Creation: Develop comprehensive user stories that capture essential details but avoid unnecessary complexity. This requires balancing a deep understanding of project needs with a strong bias towards action, recognizing that perfect information is not always available.
  • Decision-Making on Behalf of Product Owner: Collaborate closely with the Product Owner, acting as their proxy when needed. You will make decisions based on your deep understanding of the role, ensuring user stories align with business priorities and project goals.
  • Adaptability to Ambiguity: Navigate and thrive in situations where not all details are available.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work directly with business units that may lack deep technical knowledge. Your role involves simplifying technical concepts and ensuring that solutions meet their practical needs without unnecessary complexity.
  • Data and Analytics Expertise: Lead discovery meetings to assess analytics requirements and ensure that the solutions delivered meet the evolving data lifecycle needs. Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, translating business needs into actionable analytics requirements.
  • Collaborative Development: Work closely with data analytics and development teams to deliver optimal solutions, and assist in developing intuitive dashboards and visualizations. Engage with knowledge workers to ensure that informational needs are met and well-communicated.
  • Mentoring and Knowledge Sharing: Act as a knowledge hub for both technical teams and business units, offering training and guidance to ensure smooth project execution and understanding across the board.

 

Required Skills:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience as a business analyst, with a strong focus on Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Exceptional meeting facilitation skills, enabling cross-functional collaboration and engagement.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing user stories that drive project progress without unnecessary delays.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess business needs and convert them into actionable requirements.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks effectively.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience in analytics, data management, or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Management, or a related field; a degree in Computer Science is a plus.
  • Experience with data management tools like Snowflake and Power BI.
  • Proven track record of developing analytical strategies to address complex business challenges.
