Job DescriptionThis internship is funded through the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) and has eligibility requirements. Workforce Solutions Borderplex is one of 28 public workforce development boards in Texas serving the six-county Borderplex region. Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures, preparing purchase orders, controlling correspondence, designing filing systems, reviewing and approving requisitions, and other accounting and clerical functions.

Role and Responsibilities

Depending on organizational needs, may:

  • Coordinate and oversee administrative duties in an office and ensure that the office operates efficiently and smoothly.
  • Greeting visitors, managing office supplies, and supporting staff with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Requisitions and orders merchandise, supplies, equipment, and services in accordance with guidelines, rules, policies, and laws.
  • Prepares, enters, and reviews purchase orders.
  • Prepares and reviews bids and purchase orders to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.
  • Prepares and distributes bid invitations to vendors.
  • Tracks the status of requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Audits invoices to check for accuracy, receipt of material, and compliance with purchase orders.
  • Supports with procurement reports, records, and files.
  • May assist with emergency purchases.
Experience and Education Requirements

Some collage or technical education preferred.

Must have exceptional attention to detail.

  • Dealing with correspondence, complaints and queries.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Must be a self-starter and driven.

Additional Notes

Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet requirements to be included as an authorized driver on the Workforce Solutions Borderplex Commercial Package Policy as stipulated by the insurance carrier. Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks.
