VIRASEC is seeking an Engineer with two (2) or more years of relevant experience to join our growing dynamic team. The ideal candidate is punctual, reliable, and possesses excellent customer service skills. The Engineer must be able to effectively communicate technology-based terms to non-technical customers in a manner that remains courteous and professional at all times.

We are looking for someone who will excel in a fast-paced environment, is eager to learn from their peers, and can work effectively in a team atmosphere. The ideal job applicant will be a motivated self-starter who can not only work in a team but also independently complete tasks with minimal supervision. Additionally, the ideal employee will have a strong understanding and knowledge of server hardware and technologies, a variety of software applications, email administration (Office 365 and Google Workspace), and a strong understanding of Firewall and Switching concepts and best practices.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide remote technical support via phone and e-mail using remote control software.

  • Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot reported issues and provide users with appropriate solutions.

  • Take ownership of issues until they are resolved or appropriate to escalate.

  • Install and manage software on Windows Server and Linux operating systems.

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems remotely, including RAID configurations and Disk failures.

  • Update software, patches, and server operating systems.

  • Troubleshoot advanced VPN issues for remote users via escalations from the Help Desk team.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Microsoft Windows Active Directory, including DNS and Group Policy issues.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Office 365 environments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Google Workspace for business and education.

  • Create and update technical procedures and operation documentation.

  • Create and maintain accurate notes and update tickets accordingly.

  • Participate in server, network, application, and backup project deployments.

  • Maintain and update firewall and switch access rules, policies, and VLANs.

  • Troubleshoot and configure wireless solutions.

  • Troubleshoot VOIP issues in relation to network performance and QoS.

  • Perform backup restores for physical servers and virtual machines.

  • Configure virtual machines using Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare technologies.

  • Participate in rotation of on-call duty shifts and assist with fieldwork as requested.

Required Qualifications, Experience, and Capabilities:

  • Associate degree in information technology or related field OR two (2) years of relevant experience.

  • 2+ years’ experience on current server Operating Systems (Microsoft Windows Server and Linux).

  • 2+ years’ experience with current networking technologies and topologies.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members, customers, and vendors.

  • Ability to manage time and complete tasks/projects in an efficient and accurate manner.

  • Good organizational and note taking skills.

  • Must possess reliable transportation and be punctual and consistent with attendance.

 

Preferred Qualifications, Experience, and Capabilities:

  • Experience with Hyper-V and VMWare.

  • Experience with VoIP phone systems.

  • Experience with Office 365.

  • Experience with Google Workspace for business and education.
