Part-Time Mental Health Caregiver (LPT, LVN) for Disabled Client

Seeking mental health caregiver for an adult female client in Redondo Beach with spinal cord injury/ paralysis, traumatic brain injury, PTSD and Dissociative Disorder. Looking to hire one part-time caregiver for 2 daytime shifts (Saturday & Sunday).

Shifts Available:

  • Two 12-hour shifts/ week: Saturdays & Sundays, 9am-9pm. Must be flexible in scheduling.

  • Position(s) open immediately.

Pay:

  • $25 - $35/ hour DOE;

  • Hiring/ supervising agency is Brightstar Care.

Location:

  • Client’s home (condo) in south Redondo Beach.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Assisting client with activities of daily living (ADLs): preparing meals, showering, bandaging wounds, dressing, transferring to/from wheelchair, colostomy care, light housekeeping, and assisting with pet care (cat);

  • Supporting client’s mental health symptoms, crises and episodes of distress;

  • Learning and avoiding triggers, interrupting self-harming behaviors as needed;

  • Transportation to events, appointments, shopping; transporting 16 yr. old son (occasionally);

  • Administration of medications (including scheduled meds and PRNs);

  • Collaborating with other caregivers, client’s therapist and other team members;

  • Other tasks as needed and assigned;

  • Documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Psychiatric Technician, LVN or equivalent training/ experience with patients with mental health diagnoses strongly preferred;

  • Training, experience and comfort working with mental health patients, including PTSD, Dissociative Disorders and/or Traumatic Brain Injury strongly preferred;

  • Patient, warm, authentic and caring temperament is a MUST;

  • Must be able to defuse conflicts and crises without engaging in power struggles;

  • Must have strong verbal communication skills (English);

  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license.

  • Must be organized, reliable and consistent, and have good time management skills;

  • Must be personable, honest, patient, authentic, warm and caring.

 

Initial screening interview will take place with the client.

Viable candidates will be referred to Brightstar to complete the hiring process/ necessary paperwork.
