Job Description

The Production Team Leader is responsible for being a resource to team members, providing knowledge, experience, motivation, support, and advice. They are responsible for the communication of job assignments, training for specific production tasks, placement of workers on the jobs and overall production output and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable and responsible for delivering line KPIs and production commitments on assigned production room.
  • Responsible for team compliance with all regulations, safety policies, and procedures that support Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety.
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement activities for own production area.
  • Responsible for collaborating with maintenance team members to identify maintenance priorities and day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of line KPIs.
  •  Accountable for performance visual board maintenance.
  • Coach, motivate and support team to ensure information flow, colleague development, problem-solving, goal setting, and process improvements.
  • Ensures colleagues are trained and cross-trained for specific assignments.
  • Ensure adherence to all standard work processes including all quality compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for supporting development, training, and retention of assigned hourly team members.

Working Relationships:

  • Reports to shift supervisor
  • Supervises the execution of production plans through hourly colleagues
  • +Works closely with maintenance

Skills:

• Leadership: Line leaders must motivate their team and show support and guidance

• Teamwork: Line leaders must work well as part of a team while managing their own schedule

• Communication: Line leaders relay instructions and procedures so that tasks are completed accurately and on time

• Time management: Line leaders must manage their own schedule as well as the time/tasks of those around them

• Problem-solving: When issues with production arise, line leaders must think quickly and proactively to resolve them as soon as possible. Troubleshooting skills are important to success

Requirements:

· High school and/or GED equivalent

• Experience of leading small group activities to drive improvement ideas

• Experience of assisting and developing (multi-skilled) people

• Strong PC skills and experience with Excel

• Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and recognized QC tools

• Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap, and re-work

• Aptitude for problem-solving

• Attention to detail and safety standards

• Ability to work and communicate well with others

• Ability to pass all employment screenings

• Starting Rate of Pay: $16-$19/hr. (to be adjusted based on experience level)
