Job Title:              Service Technician I

Department:         Cabinet Products Division 

Reports to:           Director of Cabinet Products Division

Classification:      Hourly, Non-Exempt

 

Position Summary: Responsible for support in the service departments: completion of group projects, communicating progress to strategic partners including management, repairing equipment such as print jet printers, plotters, machines, tools and thermal printers. Travels as needed to be repair good-will ambassador with WPS truck on occasion. Utilizing manufacturing instructions and diagrams, test equipment, hand tools, and soldering iron, etc. Interface both internally and externally with customers through field visits and virtual meetings to provide machine support and training.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Ensures progress of projects, including utilizing tracking and troubleshooting issues, communicating to strategic partners.

·         Ensures completion of Service Projects, communicating to strategic partners.

·         Works with German counterparts, keeping abreast of changes and updates to systems and products.

·         Works with customers and solves escalated issues, providing high level of customer service and communication.

·         Presents new product lines and technology enhancements- travels, does repairs on site as needed.

·         Performs full range of maintenance and repair on assigned products; including technical diagnostic, software troubleshooting,  replacement part installation, and unit scrapping.

·         Manage all repair activity, perform all repair administrative requirements, and complete all documentation.

·         Diagnose failure of assigned product, documents and communicates “root-cause” of failures.

·         Read and interprets service manual, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot product.

·         Keep a detailed log of all customer machines sent in for repair and is responsible for reporting of assigned KPIs and metrics.

·         Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, repairing, packing, and shipping all repaired units.

·         Ensures thorough familiarity with and actively adheres to all Environmental and Safety and Security policies and performs their duties in accordance with those policies.

·         Responsible for notifying direct supervisor, manager and/or a member of the Executive Staff of any risks associated with the Quality Management System

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

·         Minimum High School Diploma or GED

·         Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated electrical/mechanical repair experience required. 

·         Journeyman or proof of completion of college (associates) or apprenticeship or equivalent education. Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the educational requirements.

·         Must exhibit ability to learn and comprehend the fundamentals of the assigned machines.

·         Ability to utilize deductive reasoning and a systematic approach to troubleshooting.

·         Computer skills including MS Office (Excel/PPT) and ability to learn new software.

·         Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and push/pull heavy equipment.

·         Must be able to stand regularly while working on equipment.

 

Travel Requirements & Physical Demands:

·         Frequent repetitive use of hands/arms, legs, and/or neck/back (i.e. crouching, lifting, standing, bending etc.)

·         Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds

·         Occasional lifting to 50+ pounds

·         Up to 10% travel as business demands
