Position Summary: This position requires the driver to work on a team to prepare the road for application, direct traffic, and operate and maintain the distributor, dump, and sweeper trucks.

 

Duties:

  • Assist with closing and reopening roadways, setting up and taking down cones and signage, flagging traffic, and cleaning the road for the rejuvenating application.
  • When needed, walk to each resident's home or business to pass out flyers informing them of pending roadwork.
  • Speak to residents and business owners to answer questions.
  • Operate and maintain a distributor, dump, or street sweeper (depending on CDL endorsements).
  • Follow all DOT rules and regulations
  • Record all drive time and keep accurate records of expenses
  • Keep issued work truck clean and performing. Troubleshoot issues, conduct routine maintenance, fill out maintenance logs, and perform daily inspections
  • Report any safety hazards or unsafe conditions, as well as any DOT violations (including but not limited to HOS)
  • Learn how to operate, maintain, and drive all trucks for cross-training purposes

 

Are you qualified?

 

  • Minimum age 21
  • Must have a valid CDL license with a current medical card
  • Specific equipment experience is a plus, but will train the right person
  • Frequent overnight travel across the SE region
  • Prior road crew construction experience, mechanical aptitude, and customer service skills are a plus
  • Routine background, alcohol, and drug testing
  • Passing grade on flagger course
