Fitness Trainer (Contract Role)
Are you passionate about helping others achieve optimal health and wellness through their fitness goals? Raptor Performance and Wellness is seeking a fitness trainer to provide personal training and fitness instruction to individuals and small groups at our fitness center in East Memphis. You’ll be a part of our clients’ journey from start to finish, assessing their goals, creating exercise routines tailored to their needs and monitoring their progress. The fitness trainer should be a strong communicator, offering helpful instruction in a positive environment that motivates clients to improve their physical health through exercise. Knowledge of and passion for golf is strongly encouraged.
Objectives of this role
- Assist with the growth and development of a golf specific fitness platform focusing on mobility and functional training which will lead into strength and power training as the client progresses in the program
- Create custom workout plans based on clients’ personal fitness goals
- Modify fitness plans to address health issues, injuries or other specific needs
- Provide tips, advice and guidance on improving form using Raptor Performance and Wellness’s equipment
- Support the development and delivery of Raptor Performance and Wellness’s fitness programs
- Ensure client safety during fitness sessions
- Develop strong, professional relationships with clients and motivate them to achieve their fitness goals
Responsibilities
- Lead one-on-one and small-group fitness sessions with clients
- Listen to clients’ fitness goals and actively track their physical progress
- Monitor the use of fitness equipment to ensure client safety
- Demonstrate fitness techniques and train clients to use gym equipment properly
- Explain and enforce safety and hygiene guidelines during each session
- Perform CPR or emergency first aid, if necessary
Skills and qualifications
- Broad knowledge of physical exercise and human physiology, with the ability to determine appropriate workout plans according to individual needs and goals
- Experience as a fitness/personal trainer or has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or a related field
- Strong motivational presence and enthusiasm for helping clients achieve their fitness goals
- Passion for fitness and health, especially golf
- Previous high school or collegiate golfer preferred
- Positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills
- Physical ability and stamina to demonstrate exercise techniques accurately over long periods of time
- In-depth knowledge of gym equipment, machines and fitness techniques
- Posting to social media platforms promoting Raptor Performance and Wellness offerings and themselves
Preferred qualifications
- Proven experience designing workout plans tailored to individuals
- If not already certified, trainer will be required to complete certified personal training program, TPI LEVEL 1, TPI FITNESS LEVEL 2/3 and POWER LEVEL 2/3.
- CPR and first aid certifications
- Knowledge of and passion for golf
- Previous high school or collegiate golfer preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead classes effectively
- Background in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field
- Strong teaching and leadership skills
- Commitment to staying current on health and fitness best practices
