Border Demolition and Environmental (BD&E) is one of the largest demolition and environmental remediation contractors in the Southwest. We are currently looking for a full time Construction Estimator

  • Search and identify for abatement and demolition opportunities utilizing various Search engines;
  • Identify, retrieve, comprehend, and assist in RFP and RFQ solicitations;
  • Attend Pre-bid site visits, investigate jobsite conditions, and take detailed notes and measurements; travel when necessary
  • Review and understand plans, specs, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects or services;
  • Perform volumetric, linear, and quantity verifications from various sources such as digital and printed plans AND calculate various statistical data-quantity take-offs; Perform conceptual estimating from preliminary project parameters
  • Understand timelines and applicable project deadlines; Provide input to the project team for the project schedule;
  • Collect pricing for vendors and subcontractors (when necessary);
  • Prepare accurate bid proposals and work with Proposal team in formulating proposals when needed;
  • Maintain current information on products, vendors, and subcontractors;
  • Utilize existing cost history as a check to aid in the preparation and maintenance of historical cost data;
  • Analyze alternative solutions and demolition methods to increase bid competitiveness;
  • Maintain files of working documents and bid lists;
  • Consistently follow up on submitted bids to close business and also determine/maintain bid results by communicating with General Contractors/Owners;
  • Work with Project Managers regarding bid scope after projects are awarded and provide direct assistance in the startup and management of projects;
  • Market, build, interact, and maintain relationships with clients to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction;
  • Maintain a high degree of integrity, loyalty and honesty; not divulge to outside parties information of a confidential nature pertaining to the company’s operations or bids

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum 5+ years of experience in estimating and/or managing construction projects. Experience with abatement (asbestos/lead/mold) and demolition a plus. Experience in writing proposals, meeting and interacting with clients, managing projects and managing field workers. Bilingual Spanish/English a must for this position
