Position Title: Plant Floor Lead

Location: Portland, TN

Reports To: Operations Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time, Day Shift (Monday to Friday)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Plant Floor Lead to join our clients manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have over 2 years of experience in a lead position within a manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable operating machines as needed and is committed to continuous improvement and operational efficiency. The Plant Floor Lead will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, making scheduling adjustments, conducting training sessions, and driving process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Supervision:

    • Lead and supervise a team of plant floor employees to ensure smooth daily operations.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.
    • Provide hands-on support by operating machines and assisting with production tasks as needed.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
    • Collaborate with the operations manager and other departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Scheduling & Coordination:

    • Manage daily and weekly production schedules, making adjustments as necessary to meet production targets and customer demands.
    • Coordinate with maintenance and supply chain teams to ensure minimal downtime and optimal workflow.

  • Training & Development:

    • Conduct training sessions for new hires and ongoing training for existing employees to ensure skill development and compliance with safety and operational standards.
    • Evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback to support professional growth.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
    • Promote and enforce a culture of safety, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a lead position within a manufacturing environment.
    • Proven track record of effective team leadership and process improvement.

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Hands-on experience operating manufacturing machines and equipment.
    • Proficiency in scheduling and coordinating production activities.
    • Commitment to continuous improvement and safety practices.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
