Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE) Technician


SUMMARY: Manages, performs and schedules all of the Company's inspections, maintenance, and adjustments of aircrew flight equipment, etc. Works closely with the Ops Support personnel to ensure that the Company's aviation resource management functions are completed as required by company policy and contract requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages, performs, and schedules inspections, maintenance, and adjustments of assigned aircrew flight equipment (AFE), associated supplies, and inventories assets.
  • Inspects, maintains, packs and adjusts AFE such as flight helmets, oxygen masks, harnesses, anti-G garments, parachutes, flotation devices, survival kits, and helmet mounted devices.
  • Repairs fabric and rubber components, including protective clothing, flotation equipment, and various parachutes.
  • Evaluates problems and determines the feasibility of repair or replacement related to inspecting and repairing fabric, rubber equipment, and parachutes.
  • Installs and removes aircraft installed AFE.
  • Uses test equipment such as altimeters, oxygen testers, leakage testers, radio testers, and other types of testers to conduct reliability testing on AFE.
  • Maintains inspection and accountability documentation on AFE issued to aircrews or prepositioned on aircraft.
  • Works directly with Ops Support personnel on the Company's aviation resource management functions to ensure they are completed as required by company policy and contract requirements.
    • Follows safe work practices and procedures and uses safeguards and personal protective equipment, as necessary and when required.
    • Reporting any hazards or potential safety risks (such as unsafe situations and activities) to a supervisor immediately.
  • To reduce product and 'safety of flight' risks to an acceptable level, you must actively participate in the TAC Safety Management System (SMS) which includes:
    • Communication of safety risks to employees and their roles and responsibilities related to these risks.
    • Continuous improvement of Top Aces Corp. Safety Management System and risk controls.
    • Compliance with applicable safety laws and regulations.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

SKILLS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to make sound administrative and procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Ability to plan, develop and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook).

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Department of Defense AFE Technician with qualification on ACES II Ejection Seats and fighter aircraft AFE
  • Previous USAF Aircrew Flight Equipment (1P0X1) experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, walk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


The employee is required to regularly work in both office and outside weather environments. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and vibrations, and is frequently exposed to very hot or cold, wet or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level is occasionally very loud.
