Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
Role Responsibilities
The Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) works to ensure the accommodation of eligible children and their families. The SLP-A is responsible for treatment programming for infants and toddlers living within the two county catchment area of Project G.R.O.W. ECI. SLP-A is responsible for active treatment and documentation of service delivery and needs. The SLP-A works under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist and administrative supervision of a Program Supervisor or Program Director and uses professional initiative, independent judgment and travels within the assigned catchment area. They must also assist the Supervising SLP in complex treatment procedures, timely documentation of patient progress in electronic health record, and conferring regularly with supervision of SLP-A. SLP-A is responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of the compliance policy.
Working hours are Monday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm. Adjusted time to meet the needs of families and the program may be required, as needed. The Bilingual SLP-A must be competent to interpret English/Spanish as determined by achieving a language proficiency of "limited working" or above on the MasterWord Spanish Proficiency Assessment and will receive a stipend.
Salary
- $21.85 per hour- first six months
- $22.33 per hour – second six months
- $23.50 per hour after a year
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in speech and language communication disorders or audiology or an unrelated degree with completion of 24 semester credit hours in communicative science or disorders from an accredited college or university.
- current license from the Texas State Board of Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology

- Knowledge of infant/child development
- Knowledge of early intervention techniques
- Knowledge of community resources
- Knowledge of assessment techniques
- Interpersonal skills for positive interaction with individuals
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate both orally & in writing
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in applying departmental policy & procedure
- Ability to use/interpret standardized testing instruments
- Current license as Speech/Language Pathologist in Texas
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Previous work experience in Pediatric Therapy
- Bilingual and Pediatrics experience
Job Related Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform CPR.
- Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15#), pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting.
- Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception.
- Qualified individual must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
