OVERVIEW:

The LAL Training Manager will be responsible for recruiting, and developing, administering and maintaining a program to ensure proper training and certification of LAL manufacturing associates. Key responsibilities include screening and interviewing applicants, determining training needs, scheduling training activities, tracking training progress, ensuring adherence to training timelines in conjunction with processing needs, and communicating training progress leading to certification of LAL manufacturing associates. This role is responsible for developing high performing and motivated employees and ensuring employee engagement by determining and executing long-term training programs. This position will interact frequently with Human Resources, LAL Management, Quality Assurance and Engineering.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruiting: Reviewing resumes, screening candidates, and performing interviews. Participating in employee allocation to specific roles in LAL manufacturing processes.
  • Training Curriculum: Determine appropriate and modular training curriculum to meet the needs of LAL manufacturing processing. Communicate, in writing, the program needs and expectations to the trainees.
  • Certification Programs: Development and execution of staff training certification programs and celebrations of achievement.
  • Tracking Progress: Administers and maintains training database to track employee count, progress, achievement, attainment or failure and completion of training programs.
  • Training scheduling: Collaborate with trainers to produce a training schedule. Facilitate and publish a training schedule. Ensure execution of training according to schedule.
  • Production Transfer Planning: Collaborate with production management in the transfer of certified employees to meet production plans objectives.
  • Assists in determining suitability of candidates while in training, by providing documentation for, and participating in termination of employees.
  • Communication of target throughput objectives: Effectively communicate manufacturing objectives and inspire employees to achieve target goals.
  • Certification Programs: Assist in the development and execution of staff training certification programs as well as maintaining the training database.
Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • People management experience leading a staff of 10+ FTE’s
  • A "hands-on" training style that inspires a strong, cohesive, team-focused work environment.
  • Ability to write clear and concise work instructions, protocols and engineering, and V&V reports.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and motivates staff (including hiring, terminations, performance management, and recognition duties).
  • Assess staffing needs, and recruit staff using appropriate methods.
  • Train, direct and appraise staff.
  • Plans and organizes training assignments.
  • Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

  • B.S, or higher degree in Engineering or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct managerial experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in regulated industries such as medical devices (preferred).
  • Demonstrable success in development of programs, & procedures.
  • Proven leadership skills, communications.
  • Training to be completed per the training plan for this position as maintained in the document control system.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • ERP Software (QAD, SAP, etc.)
