Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary:
At Mission Design & Automation, we attribute our success to the strength of our team and our ability to be agile and adaptive to new market demands. To build on this team, we are searching for a Machine Builder. This role will collaborate with Controls/Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers, and other team members to design and assemble custom automation equipment and complete machine builds per project specifications. The ideal candidate will balance multiple projects, possess high technical aptitude, and have a broad experience in automation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Mechanical Engineers, Electricians, and Controls Engineers to assemble equipment per mechanical drawings
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all departments during various project phases
  • Communicate with Build Lead, Project Managers, and other departments on project progress and status
  • Assist with execution of quality standards
  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision
  • Prepare material for secondary purposes such as material finishing and heat treatment
  • Document and communicate machine changes and issues
  • Effectively and safely operate hand and power tools, mills, lathes, drill press, surface grinder, saws, shears, etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop area
  • Be able to function as project lead as workload requires and career opportunities arise

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years experience in machine building or similar field (Preferred) 
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification (Vocational education preferred)
  • Ability to read part and assembly drawings (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with focus on safety and quality
  • Ability to maintain steady pace while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and climbing into and beneath machines
  • Work as part of a team or independently with direction from Lead Builder or Build Manager
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required
  • Ability to obtain Hi-Lo and Aerial Platform and Overhead Crane License
  • Ability to provide your own hand tools and toolbox
  • Travel minimum 20% may be required domestically and internationally
