About the Role

As a Product Development Manager, you will develop, monitor and manage product specifications through the product life cycle to ensure quality and customer needs are met by collaborating with internal and external partners to determine product needs, drive initiatives, resolve issues, and ensure alignment. Success in this role requires the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, a customer first mindset and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional departments.

  • You have Product Development experience in Apparel – specifically ladies wear including T-Shirts, Outerwear, Dresses, Loungewear, Headwear, Socks & Other

  • You like digging into data and doing some analysis, doing deeper dives into your categories and your customer

Responsibilities

  • The Product Manager will closely collaborate with Design, Tech Design, and overseas vendors to ensure all apparel-related items are developed on time, within the cost parameters and quality workmanship
  • The position will utilize calendar management, problem-solving, pricing, fabric development, and strong communication skills to oversee the Product Development process
  • This is position requires a highly organized individual who will manage the product development process from concept to bulk production
  • Work with the Director of Product on overall strategy and PD calendars and coordinate with cross functionals teams and overseas vendors
  • Work with overseas vendors on new fabrics and accessories to pass off to design at the start of the season
  • Work and negotiate pricing with vendors each season
  • Participate in weekly PD / Design meetings and communicate updates to the team
  • Review execution of all development samples and monitor line development activities throughout the season
  • Benchmark within the industry to identify trends and opportunities to grow profit and sales.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in merchandising, production development or production role
  • Strong communication, keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear concise manner
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to solve matters quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels
  • Some knowledge of using Slack and Monday.com are preferred.
  • Experienced user in Excel and/or Google Sheets.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk and hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person, over the telephone, and/or via video conference.

Emotional Demands:

  • Data analysis & interpretation. You will have to process and review a lot of information from a variety of sources, understand how data is collected, assess data quality, and how to use the information.
  • Communication skills. You need to have advanced communication skills in both oral and written form. Emails and written communication with colleagues and external partners, written reports for senior executives. Able to communicate complex financial information to people outside of the finance department.
  • Comfortable with technology. Able to navigate data through computers, mobile, software, databases. Stay up to date with technology advances.
  • Oriented to detail. Financial forecasts rely on projections which can be impacted by even minor changes in sales patterns, consumer sentiment, economic shifts, competitor changes, etc. You will need to be attuned to small changes in all streams of data.
  • Confident decision-making skills. You will need to review data and make sound decisions on what actions to take and make confident recommendations to senior management. You may need to make decisions quickly with limited amounts of information in urgent situations.
