Peer Recovery Specialist

CVHS Health Services is looking to hire a part time (20hr/wk) certified peer recovery specialist (CPRS) to provide recovery support to persons having opioid use disorder. The PRS’s will be a part of a multidisciplinary treatment team offering medication assisted treatment at Union Street Recovery Center (USRC) located at CVHS- Downtown Petersburg. The CPRS would participate in treatment groups, treatment planning meetings, conduct peer check ins during the week, assist peers with WRAP plans, and be available to peers in an on-call capacity throughout the week.
The successful candidate will have lived experience of substance use disorder with at least two consecutive years of recovery, and have completed a certification program as a PRS. The candidate should be skillful in engaging with and offering support to persons in varying stages of recovery using multiple means of connection such as face to face, electronic (phone, email or text), and virtual (telehealth). Candidates must be able to communicate and work effectively with all treatment team members to include medical, nursing, administrative, behavioral health, and student trainees.
