Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to fill the role of Sr Director of Product Management for our North America Consumer team at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Senior Director of Product Management North America Consumer (NAC) is responsible for leading the product strategy for the consumer division leading the product roadmap and channel management to drive sales, profit and market share in the consumer market. This role reports to and is a strategic thought partner with the VP of Sales and Marketing for the NAC division. This individual will lead, develop, and motivate a diverse team that covers a wide area of knowledge and experience in retail analytics, market research, product lifecycle management, packaging, industrial design, and other functions that will contribute to success of the NAC division. In essence, this role is responsible for delivering on Wahl's vision to be the leading consumer brand in clippers, trimmers, pet, and massage businesses. This individual will also work closely with the Senior Director of Brand Marketing and global marketing partners to ensure global alignment. The effective collaboration between sales and marketing is critical to the success of this division working closely on retail strategy, channel products, and presentations and execute programs that grow our businesses with our retail partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Product Strategy: Leads product management partnering with new product development to develop a multi-year product roadmap optimizing the global product mix that grows market share in all segments. Meet annual goals while optimizing marketing investment and ROI metrics. Directs appropriate channel and tactical strategies.
  2. Channel Marketing: Work side by side with our NAC sales force to develop strategies, products and presentations that create market growth with our retail partners. A key part of this is market data analysis and an ability to develop and adapt products to channel specific needs when strategically prudent.
  3. Consumer Insights: Creates a culture of consumer connectivity, understanding segmentation, ethnography and turning insights into action. Works closely with the Brand Marketing group to make a holistic marketing strategy that integrates Product Development and Branding.
  4. Financial Results: Responsible for hitting all divisional sales and profit goals while developing and maintaining the annual marketing budget.
  5. Compliance: Works with legal and compliance departments to ensure all legal standards applicable to marketing, particularly as it relates to privacy policy and customer data is followed. Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
  6. Servant Leadership: Provide coaching and direction to inspire employees to maximize results. Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices, create an environment that supports personal development and continuous improvement, and drives teamwork. Oversees training and development of marketing team and makes effective staffing decisions. Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
  7. Team Builder: Creates a sense of team both within the marketing group and across the entire division. Embraces the philosophy that "Talent wins games; Teams win championships." Encourages a sense of camaraderie and working hard together while having fun.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years as a strategic product management leadership
  • Consumer packaged goods experience, durable goods preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind.
  • Ability to clearly articulate a compelling vision and strategy.
  • Experience in leading and developing a high-performance product management team that work across multiple categories and product portfolios.
  • Expertise in product management developing product roadmaps for multiple retail channels, and product development life cycles.
  • Understand primary and secondary research. Expertise in market data, consumer research both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Marketing competencies include strategic planning, consumer insights, , and content creation.
  • High degree of business acumen - classic marketing, consumer product management, budget management and P&L understanding.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at executive level.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with multiple business functions.
  • This position is a full-time role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week on-site.
